Mr. Qadir H Sayeed

M.A., LL.B. (Karachi), M.A., LL.B., LL.M.adior (Cantab)

After graduating in 1960 from F.C. College, Lahore (where he was the President of the Students Union), Mr. Qadir H. Sayeed went on to secure a 1^st Class in his M.A. in History before proceeding to St. John’s College, University of Cambridge, where he took the Tripos in Law (M.A.) and LL.M. in International Law. Thereafter, he was selected as a research scholar for the compilation of the Commonwealth Treaty Series and worked as such during the period 1966-67 under the aegis of the British Foreign Office.

He commenced practice at the bar in 1968, and has been practicing at the High Court and subsequently at the Supreme Court since 1977. In January 1987 he was appointed as Standing Counsel to the Federal Government of Pakistan and subsequently served as the Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan during the period 1988-89.

An active debater/speaker from the outset, he was the Speaker Representative of the Pakistan Students Delegation to the Middle East and also led F. C. College Lahore and Karachi University in All Pakistan Debates from 1958 to 1960 and 1960 to 1962 respectively, being acclaimed as the best speaker for the aforementioned years. He continues to speak regularly at various forums on both legal and non-legal issues. An active Rotarian and past president of the Rotary Club of Karachi, Metropolitan, he is a Paul Harris Fellow and has participated in numerous international conventions.

With over thirty-four years of experience, he has been involved and appeared in various international arbitration proceedings, engaged in negotiations involving foreign lenders such as the Asian Development Bank, and has successfully handled numerous cases before the High Courts and the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He has vast experience of most matters falling within the ambit of civil law and is responsible for the overall practice of the Firm. All important litigation matters and other assignments of significance are carried out under his personal guidance and supervision.
